Meet the Officers
Our Officers
Officers are voted on each year in late November/early December. They serve a full year (Spring, Summer and Fall semesters) from January until December when it is time for elections again. We want our members to feel that we are approachable and friendly. We love to hear from our members and talk to them. President: Jordan Ostroff
Jordan is in his third year at UCF. He is a History major and comes from his hometown of Cooper City, FL. His hobbies include watching movies, playing guitar/bass and mock trialing. He was the director of social affairs last year and served on the executive committee.
Vice President: Nick Higgins
Nick is a third year student at UCF majoring in Psychology. He comes from his hometown of Tallahassee, FL. He was previously the Director of Fundraising and a MS Event Committee Member. His favorite Honors Congress trip is to Blue Springs every fall. He is a fraternal twin and loves camping, learning new languages and travelling. One day, he would love to travel to Lithuania.
Treasurer: Robert Slade
Robert is in his third year at UCF. He is majoring in Civil Engineering and considering minoring in physics and mathematics. He comes all the way from his hometown of Fayetteville, NC. He has participated in nearly everything the Honors College offers from Team Leader to the UCF Ethics Bowling team and is a three time distinguished member. He works for the philosophy department as a research assistant specializing in ethics and regularly volunteers for Habitat for Humanity. He loves movies, t.v. and long walks on the beach.
Secretary: Janine Vance
Janine is a fourth year student at UCF majoring in Health Information Management with a minor in Spanish. Before serving as Secretary, she was the housing liaison for the Honors Flagler Hall residents. Her hometown is Bonita Springs, FL but she was born in the U.S. Virgin Islands. In her free time she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Academic Affair: Melissa Smith
Melissa is a second year student at UCF. She is majoring in Mechnical Engineering. She comes from her hometown, Coral Springs, FL. She was on the Publications Committee Member and Distinguished Member. Her hobbies include FIRST robotics, IM soccer and cooking. She likes robots and legos.
Social Affair: Laura Stockbridge
Laura is a third year student at UCF. She is majoring in Economics and minoring in mathematics. Her hometown is Shalimar, FL. For the past two semesters she has served on the social committee. She is a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority and enjoys cooking. She also speaks French and has done ballet for the past 13 years. Her favorite Honors Congress is event is ice skating.
Volunteer Affairs: Catherine Cum
Catherine is in her second year at UCF. She is a double majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Her hometown is Pompano Beach, FL. She loves to play soccer, volleyball and the piano. She served on the Volunteer Committee last semester and really enjoyed it.
Fundraising: Mara Campbell
Mara is in her third year at UCF and she is an Event Management major. She comes from her hometown of Jacksonville, FL. She loves playing IM football, running and art. She is also on the Spectacular Knights Committee.
Special Events: Drew Hanson
Drew is a third year student at UCF. He is majoring in Computer Engineering. His hometown is Venice, FL. He likes playing video games and his favorite game is Guitar Hero. He also enjoys building aquariums. He has been a distinguished member and has served on the special events chair for the past three semesters.
Publications: Sarah Applegate
Sarah is in her fourth year as a Computer Science major, with a possible minor in mathematics. Her hometown is DeLand, a small town just a bit west from Daytona Beach. In her free time she likes to read, write, and play video games.
Historian: Alyssa Bridge
Alyssa is a third year student at UCF. She is majoring in Marketing and minoring in Psychology. For the past two semesters she served the on the honors social committee. She enjoys fashion television, scrapbooking, and guitar hero.
Philanthropy: Ruth Strakosha
Ruth is in her fourth year at UCF and currently a Molecular Biology and Microbiology major. She is from Orlando, FL but born in Tirana, Albania. She was the Director of Publications for 2007. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and working out for recreation (play tennis, yoga, etc.) She's recently picked up ballroom dancing.
Webmaster: Tiffany Bell
Tiffany is in her third year at UCF. She is majoring in Accounting and minoring in International Business. She is from Loxahatchee, FL. She has been on a committee since her freshman year and loves Homecoming. She enjoys studying foreign languages including Japanese and Spanish. She is very involved in intramural sports and Honors Congress. She currently works for the UCF Credit Union.
Housing Liasion: Brendan Monaghan
Brendan is in his second year at UCF as a psychology major. He comes from his hometown of Tampa, Florida. Brendan has been a homecoming committee member, a distinguished member, and goes to almost all of the socials for honors. He hobbies include reading, basketball, video games, and ballroom dancing. He also loves going to the UCF home football and basketball games.
